Rain, Canoes, Injuries and the Church

August 2008

St Andrew's ChurchThe sale of the church is continues, we've had 35 viewings so far, with some interesting and pleasant folk, as well as some 'very interesting' ones. Ideas range from converting to a house (Grand Designs indeed?), various businesses and art studios/ exhibition space. If you know anyone who's interested in buying a church in the lovely Scottish village of East Linton , ask them to get in touch: Church for Sale.

Seabrid CentreOur granddaughter is over from South Africa, so that's been fun, with visits to the beach, play parks etc. and fun with toys, stories and making music.

My training for The Monster Challenge has slowed down. I've damaged my achilles tendon so I'm not running at present, just easyish cycling - I hope I'll be fit enough. There is more information available here: Monster Challenge Website. I had been enjoying the training but I reckon I just overdid things, either that or two many puddings.

Al on beachIt's been pouring with rain which has showed a leak in our roof, so it looks like a ladder job once it all fairs up. It has meant some water in the rivers for canoeing and the River Tyne has been in flood, which gave me a chance for some pictures & videos. Some of my photos are on Trekearth, a site to which I contribute fairly regularly: Trekearth

Clouds over Traprain LawWe've had our Scotland in Bloom judging for the village and the judges seem quite happy, so we'll have to wait on the results now. It had been pouring with rain the previous days, but cleared up on the day, with sunshine bringing the flowers out well. The village looked a treat and we did our bit clearing the Linn of rubbish and helpig tidy up the square as well as out gardens.

Still not managed any sailing yet as I'm being careful with my heel, but maybe I'll get something sorted before the end of the season.Gannet

The flat is still available for some of the summer, and East Lothian is lovely in the summer. We've been helping visitors who don't know the area and land up in The Square, looking a bit wandered.

Have a look at this month's photos, there's quite a variety as usual.

Alastair

There is loads going on locally as per usual - see the folk club page or East Lothian Council's website
